Lucky Girl - Victoria reigns in Hong Kong

Oct 11, 2016

The Victorian connection dominated in Hong Kong on Saturday with 4 of the last 5 winners at Sha Tin.

Australian Group 2 expat Vanilla (Host) began the winning run and he was followed by Beauty Master (Nicconi), Jolly Banner (Lonhro) and Lucky Girl (Onemorenomore).

Vanilla was bred by Gilgai Farm, Beauty Master by Peter Devitt & Les Gordon, Jolly Banner by Makybe and Lucky Girl is a son of Ridgeview Park newcomer Onemorenomore.

Lucky Girl looks like he will rise up the grades for Onemorenomore after posting a class-record 1.33.49s in the Yuen Long Hcp (1600m). It bettered the previous mark that had stood since May 1999.

“He’s a big horse with a long stride and he controlled the speed,” trainer Dennis Yip said. “The main thing is that he keeps maturing. From last season to now, his bodyweight has gone up and he’s much stronger.”

Despite his name, Lucky Girl is a male and his dam Bani Yas (Zabeel) is a three-quarter sister to Australian stakes winner Diamond Cove.
